Threat of Severe Storms Continues from Missouri to Texas

A big storm called a tornado hit Oklahoma last night. It caused a lot of damage and sadly, three people died. One of them was a baby. The tornado happened at the same time as other big storms in Oklahoma. These storms were very dangerous. They caused problems in many places.

The National Weather Service said that in Holdenville, two people died. Another person died near Marietta on a road called I-35. Keli Cain, who works for the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, shared this information.

Kevin Stitt, who is the Governor of Oklahoma, said there’s a big problem. He said this in a video. He declared a state of emergency because of the storm. He’s going to visit Sulphur and Holdenville to see the damage from the storm.

The storms caused a lot of problems. They hurt people, damaged homes, flooded places, and knocked down power lines and trees. The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management said they don’t know exactly how bad the damage is yet.

Sulphur, which is 80 miles away from Oklahoma City, was hit hard. At least two big tornadoes hit there. The National Weather Service warned people in Sulphur to be careful because there might be more tornadoes coming.

On Sunday, there might be more storms in other places too. In Texas, Missouri, and other states, there could be big storms. Cities like Dallas, Austin, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Wichita, Topeka, and Kansas City might see tornadoes.

Lots of people are being careful because of the storms. The weather service says nearly 47 million people might be affected. Some places have tornado warnings until early Sunday morning.

The National Weather Service said there were two tornadoes in Oklahoma late on Saturday. One was near a place called Goldsby, and the other was close to Blanchard. They also saw a tornado near Tinker Air Force Base. The University of Oklahoma told students to find a safe place because of the tornado.

The Governor of Oklahoma said they’re ready to help people if there are more problems. He told people to be ready for bad weather and to know where to go if there’s a storm.

The storms are also bringing heavy rain. This could make things worse, especially if there’s flooding. Some places in Texas already got 2-4 inches of rain.

The National Weather Service says the storms could keep going until Monday. They say there might be more floods too.

On Friday and Saturday, there were lots of tornadoes in different states. Some homes got damaged, and some people got hurt. In Nebraska, a man named Jason Sunday said a tornado hit his new home. He and his family are okay, but their home got damaged.

Other people in Omaha and Nebraska also have problems. The governor of Nebraska said it’s lucky no one died. He said people will help each other to fix things.

In Douglas County, one tornado had really strong winds. Another tornado hit Omaha’s airport. In Lincoln, a tornado broke some homes and stopped a train.

In Iowa, lots of homes and businesses got damaged too. A big tornado hit a place called Minden. There’s video of the damage, and it looks really bad.

There were more than 80 tornadoes reported on Friday. They happened in five states. People saw them or recorded them with cameras.
